Although biotechnology is a lucrative and exciting career choice, women are vastly outnumbered by men in the higher ranks of this industry. Talent Lab Consulting is partnering with Women in Bio to bring awareness to this fact and to encourage women to be key players in biotechnology and life sciences roles.
WIB Mission and History
Women in Bio is an organization of professional women dedicated to promoting careers, leadership, and entrepreneurship for women in sciences, empowering them to aim higher and reach further in this industry. Women are still not equal to men in terms of pay and volume in this industry, and Women in Bio aims to help women achieve the highest levels of leadership, influence, and decision-making that they desire.
Since its foundation in 2002, Women in Bio has helped women reach executive roles in biotechnology through networking and resources like their new 'Boardroom Ready' program, which provides women with an understanding of the duties, responsibilities, and commitments required to serve on public and private boards in the biotechnology industry. The Boardroom Ready program is a collaboration with MassBio and Biogen, and you can read more about it here.
Young Women in Bio
Women in Bio also represents and hosts a program, Young Women in Bio (YWIB), which introduces girls in middle school to careers in science, technology, engineering, and math. The National YWIB Committee is made up of scientists, legal professionals, and bioentrepreneurs who share the passion for inspiring a career in science to young women.
